Dr. Fariba Bardi employs a variety of therapeutic services for her patients.  They include:

  • Heat and Ice Dr. Bardi may recommend to her patients that they alternate between heat and ice as therapeutic relief for pain.  Ice packs may be used to numb the area for 10 to 15 minutes then switched to heat.  At Optimum Health Center  hot packs are applied to help raise the temperature of the soft tissues directly below the skin.  The heat enlarges blood vessels which relax tissues resulting in a temporary relief of pain.  Heat also increases circulation and relaxes muscles.  Heat therapy is often used before adjustments.

  • Trigger Point Therapy Dr. Bardi explains that a Trigger Point is an area of uncontrolled muscle tightness which caused tenderness and often interferes with normal muscle functions.  This is normally seen as restrictions in an individual’s range of motion, some weakness in the muscles, and may cause pain to other parts of the body.  The skin is gently press to precisely locate the underlying tight bands or areas of tightness in the muscle fibers.  By pressing on the area, the muscle is compressed with sustained pressure which causes the muscle to relax.  Trigger Point Therapy also works to reduce muscle spasms.

  •  Ultrasound Ultrasound therapy is effective in healing without causing irritation.  This therapy uses high-frequency sound waves to the injured soft tissue regions.  These sound wave vibrations and heat that is generated deep in the body’s tissue helps to break down and disperse unhealthy calcium and other hard tissue accumulations.  Ultrasound also reduces nerve root irritation.

  • Electro-Muscle Stimulation Electro muscle stimulation is used by Dr. Bardi to administer controlled electrical currents to specific sites of patient’s soft tissue injury.  The purpose of the electrical current is to reduce swelling.  Electro-Muscle stimulation therapy is safely used to strengthen muscles and helps relieve pain.  This therapy when combined with other treatments speeds the body’s natural healing process.
